Philippines Internet Provider Wimax and ADSL Router Modem Vulnerable to Remote Hacking

More than 700,000 ADSL routers distributed around the world, including in the Philippines, have a directory traversal flaw in their webproc.cgi firmware modules, which can be used by remote attackers to extract data, including admin credentials and configuration settings, from the router’s config.xml file.
 

Using a free IP scanner you can scan unlimited  IP address  which you can open via port 80 or Web Browser  Port 22 for Telnet Access  Port 23 for SSH Port 443 for https access.

What will happen if your modem is being remote.

1. Your Internet  User Account Mac Address  can be clone and use it to reconnect disconnected modem which can be also  sell.
2. Sudden Change of Internet Speed , the  attacker  can switch your account to a lower speed . Imagine you having  10 mbps  and it drops to 2mbps.. If you have a Internet Shop this is headache.
3. Remotely Firmware Destroyed , this one is a fatal  for Wimax Modem of Globe and Smart Telecom you need a new modem. ( illegally can be repair )

However old Wimax modem like 622,  622i, 622m, 623m are still working they can be reconnect by changing mac address  via telnet and change authentication. New authentication have different password unlike the  2008 to 2014 the password is same of the user ID.

Mark Zuckerberg said Internet.org was launched in the Philippines

Mr. Zuckerberg's plans to bring low-cost internet access to the otherwise disconnected, and today, his social network announced  in Philippines. The new Internet.org app allows users to browse weather, health and employment info at no cost.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said Internet.org was launched in the Philippines Thursday morning (Manila time).



Zuckerberg posted a photo of Jaime, a driver in Manila who uses Facebook to keep in touch with his loved ones who moved to the United Arab Emirates.

Right now, the option is available to  Smart or Sun network subscribers in the country, but it will roll out to other parts of the world in the future. Cellular service blankets much of the globe, however the cost of the mobile web deters many from opting in. This will certainly help

 Internet.org is a partnership between mobile operators like Smart, governments and Facebook.

Makati City Hall will be a free Wi-Fi zone

Starting Thursday, July 12, the Makati City Hall will be a free Wi-Fi zone as part of the city government's plan to make Makati the country's first wi-fi city.

Its been long time I post a Free Internet but this one is legally FREE Internet. this was dated July 12  already post in many site..

The launch of the free wi-fi zone coincides with the birthday of Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr., who plans to install free wi-fi in all the city's 33 villages.

“We are laying the foundation for transforming Makati into the country’s first wireless city.  We recognize that embracing modern technology is the fastest way to achieve inclusive progress and equitable growth in this age of globalization,” Binay said.

He said the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) will be the city’s project partner and Internet service provider.

Also on Thursday, the city government will launch a Twitter account focusing on Makati Traffic.

The Twitter account @MakatiTraffic seeks to provide motorists and commuters real-time 24-hour traffic updates.

Meanwhile, the city will also relaunch the city web portal and hold a mega job fair and discount caravan at the City Hall Quadrangle.

It will also offer a P1-discount on jeepney fares from 8 a.m. to noon, offered by members of the Unified Transport Federation of Makati as their birthday gift to the mayor. — TJD, GMA News
